The Landes forest, covering about a million hectares, offers its visitors pure magic. Rivers, maritime pines and wide open spaces form a fabulous whole. However, it is man who is behind this largest artificial forest in Europe.

In the 1970s, harvesting oleoresin from the pines was becoming increasingly rare. This forest was therefore created to bring pine gemmage back into fashion. Over the years, wood has been the most exploited resource in the area.

The Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park was created to protect this fragile ecosystem. From the Arcachon basin to the north of Mont-de-Marsan, professionals are raising awareness among the general public about the preservation and safeguarding of the area.
